January 2020

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and that Father Christmas was very generous. Also, a special thank you to

those of you who were able to attend the lovely children's Nativity at Christ Church.

The learning this term is linked to exploring and investigating how things work with a focus on construction and tools,as well as

favourite stories such as 3 Little Pigs and the 3 Billy Goats Gruff.  We will also be enjoying seasonal festivals such as

Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday [with pancakes!], Valentines Day, Mother's Day and Easter.

During half term we are planning two OPEN MORNINGS from 10.00 - 12.00 on Tuesday 18th & Thursday 20th February for

anyone considering Zig Zags. Please tell your family and friends.

This is also a good time if you would like to increase your child's hours as we have one or two spaces available in the near

future. Please ask for details.

We are starting a new TODDLER GROUP on Monday afternoons 1.30 - 3.00 as from Monday 19th January. This is free group

for anybody in the locality with a baby or toddler. Come and relax and let your child play and make friends. Again, please

pass the news around.

Thank you all and a belated Happy New Year.

The Zig Zags Team

December Update 2019

Our Christmas Nativity at Christ Church in Bear Street on Tuesday 17th December at 2pm will include the Christmas story and songs

as well as refreshments. All children, even if they don't attend on Tuesdays, parents and friends are welcome as this is a

much bigger venue.

Tuesday children will travel to Christ Church by taxi, paid for by Zig Zags, and we would be grateful if you  could collect your child

from 3pm onwards from the church if you cannot attend. Staff will stay there until you are able to collect if your collection time is

later. See Bev or Sandra for further details.

Throughout the week beginning 16th December we will provide Christmas party snacks and it would be lovely to see everybody

in their Christmas party jumper.

Thank you

PS We had a fantastic time with the Nocturnal Animals from Exmoor Zoo. Animals included a giant Snail, Boris the Tarantula,

4 mice, a Scorpion which turned green under ultra violet light and a wonderful Tawny Owl. We are planning

a return visit in the Spring.

Dear Parents,

Following on from our Shoe Box Appeal we have been invited by Christ Church in Bear Street to celebrate Christmas

with a Zig Zags presentation on Tuesday 17th December at 2.00pm which will include refreshments. Everybody welcome

including family members. More details to follow.

USEFUL INFORMATION: We have some useful ideas available on how you can support your child's language development

through the  'Let's Talk More' programme. If you would like more information please talk to Bev.

Similarly, if you are looking for ideas on how to develop your child's learning take a look at the 'Hungry Little Minds'

web site which has a range of ideas and activities linked to the theme of Chat, Play,Read.

Finally we are currently thinking about issues related to healthy lunch boxes and the use of plastic packaging for food.

Have you thought of using alternative wrapping such as bees wax wraps, grease proof paper or paper bags?

Thank you for your support,

The Zig Zags Team

November 2019

Dear Parents

Thank you all for your wonderful response to our Shoe Box Appeal. We filled 13 boxes which a small group of staff

and children delivered to Christ Church on Thursday October 31st . The boxes were passed to the International Aid

Trust for delivery to children in countries like Ukraine, India or Moldovia. Our children travelled by taxi which was

great fun!

We are holding two OPEN MORNINGS on Monday 18th and Monday 25th November 10.00 - 12.00 for parents interested

in sending their child to Zig Zags. Please let friends and family know. We can also arrange Toddler Time for younger

brothers and sisters.

We are grateful to Mrs Recycle for her visits to Zig Zags and enjoy all the fun activities with recycled materials. Please see

our lovely picture at the Nursery of the children with our environmentally friendly wreath which we delivered to

Pilton Church on November 11th.

Our last item of news is that  we have invited  Exmoor Zoo  to visit us at 10.00am on Friday 6th December with some

nocturnal animals.

Best wishes from all the staff
